ORF Finder is a software located at the NCBI Website and it is designed to locate open reading frames in a given DNA sequence in all the six reading frames.

There is a more sophisticated softwares that can handle the complexity of higher organisms genomes like GenMark.

The Open Reading Frame or (ORF) is a sequence of DNA located between the start-code sequence (initiation codon) and the stop-code sequence (termination codon).

The ORF finder softwares or algorithms are used to locate a gene in a given sequence by locating the initiation codon and the termination codon.

The initiation and termination codon can occur by chance so they could falsify our results, but in general the sequence found between them is not long enough, so to make sure its an ORF, we have to make sure that the sequence between the initiation and termination codon is long so it can represent a GENE.

The DNA sequence can be read in SIX different reading frames, 3 for each strand (because every codon have 3 bases).

In eucaryotic DNA we may find overlapping sequences withing a gene, these overlapping sequences are called INTRONS and they do not code for proteines.

Example: if we have a mRNA sequence:

1 st reading frame: AGUAAGAUGGCGAAUCUU
2 nd reading frame: - GUAAGAUGGCGAAUCUU
3 rd reading frame: - - UAAGAUGGCGAAUCUU

We can see that the first reading frame contains an initiation codon (AUG), the 2nd doesn't contain anything, the 3rd contains a stop codon (UAA).

So if we are about to choose a correct reading frame we would choose the first one.

But he cannot get through the difficulties made by the Planning Officer to make his house. The movie advances through some funny scenes and Kolapully Sukumaran's family life. Just before the interval we come to know that there is a twisting suspense in the story which takes the flow of movie to another direction. During the same time Sameera Reddy who plays the role Meera, wife of Mohanlal files a case againt Mohanlal to get her daughter with her. Due to the failure of case Mohanlal is compelled to give his daughter to Meera. The movie lacks a rigid storyline and the absence of good comedy as expected from a Sreenivasan story make the audience disappointed. The smooth run of the story falls into gutter when ever the irrelevant family plot raises its head. Most of the time viewers get bored due to the slow growth of the story.

Movie Review: Red Alert; Star cast: Suniel Shetty, Sameera Reddy, Bhagyashree, Vinod Khanna, Ashish Vidyarthi, Gulshan Grover and Naseeruddin Shah (in Sp App); Director: Anant Narayan Mahadevan; Rating: *** – A good attempt. With a hard hitting realistic film Red Alert – The War Within actor turned filmmaker Anant Narayan Mahedevan has finally found his calling after directing a good number of average movies distinctively belonging to a diverse genre. The film based on a true story manages to strike a chord with the manner Mahadevan has narrated the subject without taking sides and has been ably supported by his ensemble cast. The film narrates the tale of Narsimha (Suniel Shetty) a farm laborer, who desperately needed money to fund the education of his children. But he ends up finding himself in the midst of Naxalites where his mission becomes a mere subset of a greater cause that the militant’s pursue. From being a mere cook to actually training in weapons to being involved in shootouts and kidnapping, Narsimha himself in the thick of life he had never bargained for. A confrontation with the group leader (Ashish Vidyarthi) however turns his life upside down which leads him on the run from both law and the militants. But then comes a crucial time for Narsimha to take one vital decision that can either make or break him. But the decision ends in creating a conflicting situation that has him torn between conscience and survival. The film’s situations are straight out of newspaper headlines and Mahadevan has handled the subject maturely. He has given a treatment to the film like a thriller rather than resorting to a boring documentary style. Much credit also goes to writer Aruna Raje. However, the climax could have been better. The happy ending though might please audience but in reality the situations portrayed in the climax appear a bit implausible. The film’s another big strength however are the performances. Suniel Shetty has delivered his career-best act. Bhagyashree playing his wife is good. Sameera Reddy is almost unrecognizable in her non-glam act and is impressive. Ayesha Dharkar and Seema Biswas barely get any scope to justify their talent. Ashish Vidyarthi is very good. Gulshan Grover is fair. Amongst the veterans, Vinod Khanna in his short act and Naseer in his one scene role are super impressive. Zakir Hussain and Makarand Deshpande leave an impact too. The camerawork by K. Rajkumar and action by Allan Amin could have been better. Red Alert is a must watch for serious cinema lovers.

(RTTNews) - Firm global cues on the back of encouraging data on U.S. jobless claims and sales gains reported by a handful of U.S. retailers lifted the Indian market sharply higher for a second straight session Friday.

An upbeat assessment of the global economy by the IMF and interest rate increases by some Asian countries in recent days, including India, also boosted confidence about global economic recovery.

Telecom giant Bharti Airtel climbed almost 10% on a brokerage upgrade. Other telecom stocks such as Reliance Communication (up 2.82%), Idea Cellular (up 13.31%) and Tata Teleservices (up 5.54%) also rallied with a significant increase in trading volumes.

IT bellwether Infosys, which is set to unveil its first-quarter earnings on July 13, rose 1.63% and Wipro gained 1%, while TCS slipped 0.27%.

In the metal pack, Tata Steel advanced 2.43% on reports it may hike product prices. SAIL, Hindustan Zinc, Jindal Steel, Sterlite Industries and Hindalco rose by 1%-2.5% even as base metal prices remained choppy.

Sugar stocks saw widespread buying as agriculture minister Sharad Pawar talked about sugar decontrol. Bajaj Hindusthan, Balrampur Chini, Dhampur, Shree Renuka, Oudh and Dwarikesh soared between 3% and 12%.

The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex ended up 182 points or 1.03% at 17,834 and the 50-share Nifty rose by 56 points or 1.05% to 5,352. Second-line stocks posted modest gains and in the broader market, gainers outpaced decliners by 1575 to 1323 shares.

State-run lender Vijaya Bank rallied 3.57% on reports that it is seeing an improvement in net interest margins. Other PSU banks like UCO Bank gained 1.83%, Bank of Maharashtra rose 1.55%, Andhra Bank added a little over a percent and SBI edged up 0.51%. Private sector lender ICICI Bank, which said it raised $500 million via a bonds issue in the international market, rose 1.09% and HDFC Bank rallied 3%. Mortgage lender HDFC closed up 1.09%.

In the healthcare sector, Pfizer India eased 0.54% amid reports that it has launched a new variant of its pneumonia vaccine in the Indian market. Cadila Healthcare lost about half a percent after Irish pharma firm Shire Plc filed a patent infringement suit against the Indian generic drug maker. Cipla slipped 0.28% on reports that its chief executive officer Amar Lulla may step down next year. However, the company clarified that the contents of the report are speculative.

State-run BHEL edged up marginally, while NTPC shed 0.68% on allegations that officials from the companies have accepted bribes from a U.S.-based company. Power trader PTC India climbed 5.77% on reports it is selling a stake in its financial services arm.

Auto components maker Steel Strips Wheels soared nearly 10% after it received an export order from German car maker Audi. Cement makers such as ACC, JK Lakshmi and Ambuja Cement closed in the red, while India Cements rose 3%, Madras Cement edged up 0.75%, Binani advanced 2.41% and Shree Cement rose 1.88%.

Two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto edged up 0.65% after it signed a pact with the Renault-Nissan Alliance to develop a low-cost car. Met coke producer Gujarat NRE Coke advanced 3.19% after it posted a more than five-fold rise in first-quarter net profit.

Petronet LNG rallied 4.27% on a brokerage upgrade. HCL Infosystems gained 1.59% after it bought a 60% stake in a Dubai-based IT services company. Zenith Computers closed up 2.51% after denying media reports that it is selling its computer business. Hindustan Dorr-Oliver jumped 3% after its U.K. subsidiary bagged a ?8.3 million order.

Defensive FMCG stocks closed on a subdued note. United Spirits, Godrej Consumer Products, Colgate Palmolive, ITC, Hindustan Unilever and Nestle India fell by 0.11%-2.10%.

Chowgule Steamships declined 0.50% on posting a loss in the first quarter. Phillips Carbon Black fell 1.65% and Alstom Projects India eased 0.21% on turning ex-dividend.

Elsewhere, Asian stocks rose for a second consecutive session today, lifting the MSCI Asia Pacific Index up by about a percent to its highest level since June 24. European stocks were modestly higher in early trading, extending their rally for a fourth consecutive session, while the U.S. index futures pointed towards a lower opening on Wall Street Friday following three sessions of consecutive gains.

Profits of HTC grew by 30%Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC Corp today reported the results of the company's fiscal second quarter unaudited and presented data showing that net income increased 33% due to growing sales and revenues. Today, HTC is one of the largest manufacturers of smartphones based on Windows Mobile OS and Google Android. HTC Developments in the market compete with proposals Apple, Research in Motion, Nokia, Samsung and LG. In the second quarter, which ended on the accounting HTC on June 30, net profit reached 8.64 billion New Taiwan dollars or 268 million U.S. dollars. Earnings per share amounted to 11.77 Taiwan dollars, or 37 U.S. cents. The HTC say that the current results of the company became the most positive since 2007, when the fourth quarter of manufacturer received a net profit of 9.99 billion Taiwan dollars. The company's sales grew by 58% and amounted to 60.53 billion Taiwan dollars, against 38.20 billion a year earlier. Deliveries of smartphones in units calculus rose 50% to 4,500,000 units. Recall that the original contract manufacturer was HTC smartphones, but a few years ago the company began to produce vehicles under its own brand. Now HTC is especially strong position in Europe and the U.S., where the company presents its line of Android-devices. "The results of the second quarter were higher than originally expected. We look forward to maintaining a positive trend for the rest of the year", said in a statement of the manufacturer. According to analysts the company Yuanta Securities originally laid HTC profit of 7.97 billion dollars, but was able to surpass this figure due to increase in the average selling price of phones, as well as the release of several popular models based on Google Android. After the publication of papers reporting HTC rose in price by 5% to 495 Taiwan dollars per share.

Shocking news is coming in; a top officer of a leading MNC was found dead in a swimming pool of the ITC Grand Maratha five-star hotel in suburban Andheri, Mumbai on Wednesday.

The woman is recognised as the Deputy General Manager (DGM), Vodafone, Indumathi Subramanian who was working at the Vodafone’s divisional office in Chennai.

According to ITC Grand Maratha staff the pool was closed due to heavy showers in Mumbai. The dead body of Indumathi was first seen by a hotel’s foreign customer and he shouted to call hotel staff and authorities. The incident has left hotel and everyone shocked. The hotel staff is puzzled as the pool was blocked.
